Tsawwassen is situated at the farthest Southwest region in the lower mainland. It is considered the gateway to Vancouver Island as BC Ferries provides transport for passengers to and from the island. Tsawwassen means “Land facing the Sea” and has ocean sits to the West, South and East of the community. Taswwassen receives up to 40% less precipitation than the entire Fraser Valley allowing it to remain the sunniest, driest municipality in the lower mainland. Even though the rainfall is light compared to other regions there is still no shortage of mossy roofs due to the large cedar trees that tower over most homes.
Tsawwassen is made up of several different neighbourhoods such as:
Neighborhoods in Taswwassen are mostly heavily treed, especially in the older, original neighborhoods. Much of the new developments which include houses or condos, will not need any type of roof cleaning, moss removal or gutter cleaning done very often as there are no large trees or vegetation provides leaves, sticks/branches etc to fill up the gutters or provide shade more moss to grow. Most of the roofs in Taswwassen are asphalt shingle as it is a relatively easy roofing material to maintain and the replacement cost is lower than cedar, tile and composite shakes. Since asphalt roofs are by far the most prevalent within the area, the process to remove the moss includes a light brushing of the roof to remove 80%-90% of the moss followed by the application of our eco-friendly moss and algae roof treatment. The moss treatment will kill all remaining moss spores on the roof and in time, will gradually remove/wash away the remaining dead moss while ensuring no damage to the roof. Power washing, pressure washing, and soft washing should not be preformed at anytime on Asphalt shingle, Fiberglass Laminate shingles or durriod shingles as it will remove the protective granules from the shingle, resulting in roof damage.
